WHAT ARE THE CHAKRAS?
The seven chakras are energy centers in our bodies that energy flows through. When energy is blocked in any of these seven areas, it can lead to emotional or physical illness. It’s important to know where your chakras are located, what they represent, and how you can keep the energy flowing through them.
Illuminating the seven major chakras from your base to your crown:
CHAKRA FOUR
Heart Chakra | Anahata
Sanskrit: Unstruck Sound
Element: Air
Color: Green
Bija Mantra: Yam
Mudra: Ahamkara Mudra
Meditation: Wheels of Life - pg. 187
Affirmation: I am open to love. I am kind and compassionate. I am forgiving and understanding. My heart is full of unconditional love for all beings. I choose to love every single day. I create loving and supportive relationships. It is safe for me to love and be loved.
What is it? The heart chakra is in the center of your chest. According to yoga tradition, it is the very “seat of the soul.” Associated with the lungs and the element of air, we can imagine the heart chakra as the meeting ground for the vast spectrum of our human emotional experience. The heart chakra has the capacity to radiate the highest aspects of the human being: compassion, unconditional love and total faith in the Divine. But it also has the capacity to radiate our deepest feelings of insecurity, disappointment, loneliness and despair.
Balanced (Sattva): When energy flows freely, you will experience compassion, love, and acceptance.
Excessive (Rajas): If you are experiencing jealousy or feeling clingy, you may have too much heart energy.
Deficient (Tamas): Signs that your heart chakra may be blocked or low in energy include feeling shy or lonely, or experiencing an inability to forgive.
